JD | Content Creator | kaizen

Location: Fully remote
Type: Part-time contractor
Time: Approximately 10–15 hours per week
Channels: Instagram, TikTok and YouTube Shorts

You’re the type of person who identifies something interesting about running, translates it into a strong idea and then script, shoot and edit the finished piece yourself.

You’ll own kaizen’s day-to-day social content: deciding what we should talk about, appearing on camera, creating the content, publishing it and learning from what performs. The goal is to make kaizen an account that committed runners genuinely want to follow with interesting insights, not just a random training app that posts marketing.

We have already experimented a lot and have some indications of what works, what doesn't and some opportunities we haven't yet explored.

The company and the role

kaizen is a load-based running training app used by more than 50,000 runners. We’re live on iOS and Android, and recently raised a pre-seed round to accelerate our progress.

We believe runners deserve a better understanding of their training: the training they’ve done, the fitness it builds and what they should do next. Our content should do the same thing; helping runners understand their training while giving them something useful, interesting or entertaining enough to share with someone else.

You’ll create four to five original pieces each week across short-form video, carousels, static posts and other lightweight formats. Strong ideas can be adapted across Instagram, TikTok and YouTube Shorts; we don’t expect separate concepts for every channel or every piece to be a major production.

This is an end-to-end creative role. You won’t be handed a finished script and asked to edit it. You’ll help decide what we should make, create it and use the results to make the next piece better. There's licence to experiment and commit.

What you’ll own

  • Plan a rolling content calendar around relevant running conversations, training insights, product moments and recurring formats.

  • Create four to five original pieces each week, with an appropriate mix of polished and lightweight content.

  • Develop ideas, write hooks and scripts, film yourself and edit the finished content.

  • Write captions and adapt strong ideas appropriately across Instagram, TikTok and YouTube Shorts.

  • Publish content and engage thoughtfully with the resulting comments and conversations.

  • Review reach, watch time, shares, saves, comments and follower growth to understand what is working.

  • Turn those learnings into new concepts, recurring series and sharper creative decisions.

  • Develop a recognisable voice and visual style for kaizen while staying close to how runners actually speak.

  • Work with Michael on product launches, campaigns and the broader brand direction.

You won’t be responsible for customer support or expected to be permanently online responding to every comment. Community work should help us understand and engage runners, not consume the entire role.

Who you’ll work with

Michael Keskerides, CEO — Leads product, growth and brand. Previously VP Product at Bitpanda and Wayflyer and Head of Product at N26. A 2:37 marathoner who will work closely with you on priorities, ideas and performance.

Josh Sambrook, CTO — Sports scientist and 2:28 marathoner. Josh built kaizen and its proprietary training models from the ground up. He’ll provide the sports-science context behind our strongest training content.

Who this is for

You’re a committed runner. You train, race and understand the details and emotions of the sport. Training load, tapering, race week, a session going wrong and the irrational attachment to a particular pair of shoes should all mean something to you.

You’ll do well here if you:

  • Have examples of social content you have personally taken from idea to finished piece.

  • Are comfortable being one of the faces of kaizen and speaking naturally on camera.

  • Have an understanding of the science and practice of training and can translate that into shareable formats.

  • Can film strong content independently using a phone and a simple remote setup.

  • Understand how to earn attention quickly without resorting to empty hooks or generic engagement bait.

  • Can write concise scripts and captions in a natural, human voice.

  • Have strong short-form editing instincts: pacing, structure, subtitles, music and knowing when to cut.

  • Understand the differences between Instagram, TikTok and YouTube Shorts without creating three times the work.

  • Can balance planned content with reacting quickly to something happening in running.

  • Use performance data to improve your judgement rather than chasing every short-term spike.

  • Can manage your own time and consistently deliver within approximately 10–15 hours per week.

Bonus, not required: Experience creating content for a sports, fitness or consumer-app brand; building your own running audience; designing carousels or lightweight motion graphics; or helping an account develop repeatable formats that materially increased its reach.

What good looks like after three months

  • We’re consistently publishing four to five strong original pieces each week that are growing our account.

  • Kaizen has several recognisable, repeatable formats rather than starting every post from a blank page.

  • Our content feels native to each platform while still sounding unmistakably like kaizen.

  • We understand which topics, hooks and formats create meaningful reach, shares and conversation.

  • You can run the weekly content rhythm independently without waiting for detailed briefs.
