Kamehameha Schools operates as a charitable educational trust established in 1887 through the will of Princess Bernice Pauahi Bishop, with a mission to educate and advance Native Hawaiian people. The organisation maintains three K-12 campuses distributed across O'ahu, Hawai'i Island, and Maui, alongside 30 preschool sites serving more than 1,600 keiki statewide.
With over 4,000 full- and part-time staff members, Kamehameha Schools delivers comprehensive educational programmes guided by a World-Class, Hawaiian Culture-Based Education approach. The curriculum integrates indigenous knowledge and practices within place-based learning environments, anchored by E Ola! learner outcomes designed to develop students as locally and globally engaged servant leaders.
Beyond its campuses, the organisation provides scholarship services and community outreach initiatives that serve Hawaiian learners across all ages throughout the islands. Over 135 years of operation have positioned Kamehameha Schools as a significant institution in Hawaiian education and community development.
