JOB TITLE: Junior Instructor
DIVISION: Ski & Ride School
REPORTS TO: Ski & Ride School Supervisors
LOCATION: Ski & Ride School Building/ On mountain
COMPENSATION: $18.65
CLASSIFICATION: Part-time / Temporary / Seasonal
POSITION:
The junior instructor will provide quality support and help to the ski & ride school programs. The qualified candidate will assist with ski/snowboard instruction to groups and individuals in a safe and fun manner while upholding all Utah Skier Safety Act rules/regulations and Company guidelines.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Attend required training sessions.
15-17 years of age (preferred).
Able to ski or snowboard proficiently on blue groomed terrain.
Must be fluent in all aspects of the English language (spoken and written)
Must have excellent guest service skills, outgoing, & demonstrate the ability to interact with a variety of different people.
Must have excellent communication skills
Must work well in a team environment
Must be able to work inclement weather in an alpine environment.
Must have sight, speech, and hearing abilities sufficient to learn skills, follow and provide directions.
Must be available to work holidays and weekends (time off during peak/holiday periods is not available)
Previous experience with teaching/coaching/mentoring children
Participation in the PSIA Junior Instructor Program (preferred).
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Upholding the highest levels of guest safety on varied challenging terrain with constantly changing winter weather conditions.
Assisting guests, including young children, to load and unload the chairlift.
Communicating instructions and helping guests to their feet during a lesson; lifting children.
Assisting at lunch and snack times; ensuring the return of children to the identified guardian.
Assisting in operational responsibilities of Ski & Ride School programs including but not limited to the registration process, directing guests to appropriate equipment fitting source, upkeep of outdoor teaching areas, and cleanliness of facilities.
Be a positive and professional ambassador of Solitude, and Snow Sports in general, to all guests
